CW: RL videos depicting terrorism, rioting, mentions of Nazis.

((OOC notes: The scenarios depicted here are extensions of book-verse character background as per this entry. Please pretend Hans appears in the videos as noted below.))

[The videos streaming from Hans' communicator are more in the nature of newsreel footage than intimate scenes of his life; what glimpses can be seen of him in mob scenes reveal a much younger version of him about twenty years old, taking part in the violent student protests, shouting at the police in defiance, getting sprayed with water cannons.]

[In this video, Hans can be seen among the mourners at the funeral. He appears older now, about thirty. The first ten minutes or so are the most relevant to Hans and the organization of which he was a member for about 15 years; the last ten are mostly a discussion of whether or not terrorists are entitled to civil rights.]

[Hans is not especially disturbed to see these videos; considering some of the more personal ones he's seen on the network lately, it definitely could be worse. Unfortunately that does not last; eventually a very different video appears—]

—in which a young twenty-year-old Hans is seen once more, having a shouting match with a much older man while a woman (also older) sits in a nearby chair crying, it eventually becoming apparent that these are his parents. Hans is both livid and anguished, clearly reeling from the shock of discovering his father's Nazi past; a well-kept secret up until this moment. The older man however, does not share his son's anguish, seeming actually smug about evading any retribution after the war, instead going on to become one of the wealthiest men in the city—an attitude which only infuriates Hans even further, prompting him to denounce his parents and storm from the room (You are not longer my father!), a sentiment that is shared by Gruber Senior with regard to his younger son (Simon was always a much better son than you!).
